Folded Menus

Folded Menus are a variant of folded leaflets with much more information included in the form of lists. They are the best way to advertise the food in a restaurant this could be in the form of a handout that can be delivered door to door, or an in-house menu

The two more common sizes are A4 and A3, like folded leaflets there is a lot of room for customization regarding the location of the fold or a custom size of menu. When choosing from the menus consider the size in a number of ways, a smaller menu would be a better choice if you intend to be taking them door to door. On the other hand, a larger menu would be more practical if you intend to keep them in-house.

Content

When it comes to what you want to include in your menu consider listing special offers, for example a takeaway may have a burger section and a pizza section separately. You could advertise your special offers this would be most effective on the front page of your menu, as your customers would see it first. Speaking of special offers the menu can also have a perforation coupon for
discounted meals.

In a restaurant booking tables for special events is a necessity so if there are any special events coming up like Christmas or Easter it would be important to advertise your meal/table bookings where applicable. A restaurant may also deem it necessary having a wine list in the same menu. The most important thing to remember about menus is that you have a lot of space to include whatever is important to your restaurant. For example most of your products can be included in list but your best selling dishes be separate side notes that the customer would see first, this simple separation would help you sell the products that you want to sell.

Why go folded?

The fold allows the menu to be broken down into sections in a much clearer way allowing products that should be separate such as types of food to have a clear distinction. Like with folded leaflets the fold also opens up the options in terms of design allowing it to be broken up into sections, creating a choice for it to either open up into a large design or to remain as separate sections or “pages”. Below are a few examples of types of designs and sizes.

The fold can also be customized in order for the design to look the best it can and keep your food looking as appetizing as possible. If you want your menu to stand out amongst the others, custom sizes are also an option, creating something unique to advertise your business. The menu isn’t limited to a single fold if your restaurant has a large number of sections then perhaps a Z fold would be a better option to split up the large amount of choices.
